I’ve been asked to do another comparison of the various printing options available, this time for simple black and white, A5 books – for novellas etc.
You also need to keep in mind that these quotes don’t include any formatting or checking of your work. You’ll need to convert and format everything. You should also remember that price isn’t everything – I haven’t worked with any of these printing companies so I don’t know about turn around times, response times or their attitude to last minute changes when you realize at the 11th hour that you’ve changed someones name halfway through. You know not to make your decision based purely on price – email the companies you’re interested in and see how long they take to get back to you. Phone them or email and ask questions about bleed and pagination. (page order). You need to be sure for your self before you part with your hard earned cash.
Make sure you know how much you’ll have to pay for an ISBN, where to get one and factor it in to your costs on top of the printing.
As before I’ve tried to compare like for like where possible.

Hi Emma,
Thank you for including Doxzoo.com in your comparison post.
Our paperback book cover stock is 350gsm by default. For hardback books, we use 80g greyboard (2000mic).
It’s also worth mentioning that as we don’t have a minimum order limit, it’s possible to order a single copy or a small batch of books to act as a test run.
First time users will also qualify for a 20% print discount upon registration, which can help ease the cost.
Our book printing FAQs can be found here: http://doxzoo.com/faqs#bookprinting
Thanks again,
Hannah @ Doxzoo
